From Mission to Prohibition: A Short History of Drinking in Southern California

The Friends of the Claremont Library present From Mission to Prohibition: A Short History of Drinking in Southern California. In this talk author and scholar Richard Foss covers the period from 1778 to 1933 that begins with pious monks and ends with law-dodging partiers who were anything but reverent. The Friends of the Claremont Library's On the Same Page book this year is Tangled Vines: Greed, Obsession, and an Arsonist in the Vineyards of California by Frances Dinkelspiel.
