Established in 1938 as the Keystone Branch, the library merged with the Carson Branch in 1959. The present building was opened in 1972 and serves 19.24 square miles.

Carson Online: Carson Online contains over 200 pages of information about the city, including the city's history, its citizens, schools, churches, shopping, dining, city hall, upcoming events, tourist attractions, projects in the planning stages (such as the MetroMall), community groups... you name it. There are special sections (mini-sites) for Carson High School (and the Colts), for the South Bay Pavilion, and for the Carson Chamber of Commerce. There is also information about celebrities who have lived in Carson (such as Brandy and Forest Whitaker), and even a page about the Goodyear Blimp (which is based in Carson).
