History
The original Sunkist-La Puente Library was dedicated and opened on Monday, March 28, 1960 to become the second library in the City of La Puente. This storefront library was located at 13913 Elliot Avenue in the Sunkist Shopping Center. The library was dedicated by Supervisor Frank Bonelli. The library remained in that location for 18 years. Friday, February 10, 1978, was the dedication date of the newly built Sunkist Library, located at 840 N. Puente Avenue, just one block from its old location. Present at the opening were the County Librarian Carol Moss and Supervisor Pete Schabarum.

Collection
The library's collection totals approximately 87,580 books, including Spanish, Vietnamese and Chinese materials, 60 magazine and newspaper subscriptions, 6,397 audio recordings featuring many audiobook titles, 6,256 videocassettes, and special collections of local college catalogs, telephone directories and pamphlets. There is also an employment information section with civil service exam books, employment journals and resume books. The Friends of the Sunkist Library sponsor a video rental collection.

Services
Services include an on-line public access catalog, Internet workstations, a multimedia workstation for adults and children, children's programs, a Homework Center, coin-operated typewriter and a copy machine. A meeting room is available on a rental basis.

Facilities
The library, with an area of 7,660 square feet, features an adult section, a children's area, a periodical area, and a meeting room with a seating capacity of 35.
