Santa Clarita Libraries Transition Information

On August 24, 2010, the Santa Clarita City Council voted to withdraw from the County of Los Angeles Public Library and establish its own independent municipal library.  As of June 19, 2011, the Valencia, Newhall and Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Libraries will be closed for the transition to the City of Santa Clarita. The effective date of the transfer is July 1, 2011. Details about the new library can be found on the City of Santa Clarita Libraries website.

After June 18, 2011, all card holders in Santa Clarita who have not chosen a new home library will be automatically re-assigned to Castaic Library. Or, you can choose to change your home library to the Stevenson Ranch Express Library, Castaic Library or the Acton Agua Dulce Library. Contact any County Library for help, or contact us via email to make the change.

Your County of Los Angeles Public Library card will continue to be active at all County Libraries.  A full list of our locations can be found here.

The County of Los Angeles Public Library thanks you for voicing your support of our staff these past months.  It has been a privilege to serve you and the community.

If you have any further questions, you can email the County Librarian, Margaret Donnellan Todd, at mdtodd@library.lacounty.gov.
