Tools for Job Seekers

This page provides links to library resources, online resources, and books that you can browse to help you in your job search. Computers are available up to two hours per person, or use your laptop to access Wi-Fi at any of our libraries.

Library Resources

Hover your mouse over each of the links listed below to see a description of what each database can do for you. Access to these databases is provided free of charge to anyone with a valid County of Los Angeles library card.

JobScout is a free online learning platform that teaches you basic digital literacy skills to find a job. For every lesson you complete, you'll earn a badge. JobScout lets you track your progress and access games to reinforce the skills you learn. Fully armed with the know-how and confidence to use the Internet to its fullest potential, you'll be on the path to finding work.

Your online career guidance center that walks through the job-search process from beginning to end.

Live tutors are available for career help, including resume review, job searching and interview preparation. Tutors can also help with GED and Citizenship preparation, and essay review. Additionally tutors can help adult learners with back to school needs. Help is available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Online tutorials on job searching and networking skills, writing a resume and cover letter, improving interviewing skills, and business writing. Includes new GED 2014 information.

Use our online learning databases to enhance your job skills. Gale Courses offers a wide range of interactive courses led by expert instructors. Universal Class has over 500 online continuing education courses. Mango Languages is an online language-learning resource that includes 22 languages. Powerspeak Languages uses a series of stories, activities and innovative learning tools to help you learn a new language. All are free with your library card.
